SEC KICKOFF PRESENTED BY REGIONS TO BRING FREE CONCERT TO NASHVILLE FROM MIDLAND

Nashville to Host SEC Annual Media Days Event July 17-20 for First Time

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (June 15, 2023) – GRAMMY-nominated band Midland will headline a free concert in Nashville on July 18 as part of SEC Kickoff presented by Regions, the league’s annual football media days event, the SEC and Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp announced Thursday. The SEC’s annual football media event is being hosted for the first time in Nashville. The event on Lower Broadway will activate at 5 p.m. CT and will be part of a special edition of SEC Nation presented by Regions telecast on ESPN2 and SEC Network at 6 p.m. CT. The street concert will follow at approximately 7 p.m.

The concert stage will be located near Fourth and Broadway in Nashville and is the first time SEC Media Days has incorporated a street party and live music concert into the event. The concert is free and open to the public.

The 2023 Football Kickoff presented by Regions event will bring more than 1,000 credentialed media members to Nashville and the host venue, Grand Hyatt. The annual event previews the upcoming college football season with coaches and players from each SEC school providing overviews of their teams. The gathering was typically held for many years in Hoover, AL and this is just the third time the SEC has taken it to another city.

“We are excited to bring SEC Football Media Days to Nashville as we kick off the 2023 season,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “When we began moving SEC Media Days to new locations, we wanted to enjoy the experiences uniquely present in each community and we look forward to the Tuesday night concert blending Music City with SEC Football.”

“Partnering with the SEC to host this high-profile event is both an honor and opportunity for our city,” said Butch Spyridon, CEO, Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “We are adding live music to give the event a Music City touch, and we hope it’s only the beginning of a long-lasting relationship. We want all the SEC fans in Middle Tennessee to come out, represent their teams and enjoy a free show right in their backyard.”

Midland has been nominated for two GRAMMY Awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song. They won New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at the ACM Awards in 2018. Members are lead singer/guitarist Mark Wystrach, bassist/vocalist Cameron Duddy and lead guitarist/vocalist Jess Carson.

Please note that the Broadway Bridge will be closed for construction in July. Concert attendees should plan extra time to travel downtown with detours on Demonbreun and Church or by entering downtown from the east.

football playoff

i think neal is right about playoff is going to get to 16 games but that's where it it should be going now .as far as the number of games only the top 4 teams have the opportunity to play 3 instead of 4 games in order to win the championship so the extra games would still have to be played by 8 of the teams to win . 16 would give it balance and also add 4 more teams to the field . the argument for 12 is giving top 4 a bye and maybe less games but heck they already have a big earned advantage ( 1 playing 16 for example ).
the idea of a college football team playing 3 games instead of 4 is not just making the advantage bigger for some college football teams but making it just too unfair . as i said these top teams already have gotten their advantage but it doesn't need to be ridiculous .more games ,more football and more fairness.

Watching the news interview w/Prof. Johnathan Turley was fun

1. Trump already has two “completely political” lawsuits in NY and Georgia. The Fla. suit will have to work around their schedules.
2. S.Florida is probably the strongest Trump voting area in the nation per capita. More people in a smaller area vote for him there than anywhere else so it’s highly likely at least half of the jurors will be consistent Trump voters.
3. Considering #1 & #2 above it’s extremely unlikely that this case is over before Election Day. Every Republican running is on the record saying they will pardon Trump if elected except Ada Hutchison. Jack Smith is trying to move this along but if you add in the time Trump will have to get to run for President, it’s just about impossible for Trump to lose.

Podcast Idea

Since we’re in the dog days of summer, how about a Disney World podcast? We are planning a trip for next year and I’d be interested to hear about Chase’s experience with restaurants, rides, hotel, etc. and if he would do anything different next time. Also could get a certified Disney planner on to give advice. Just a thought if you’re short on content this summer.
