Youngstown Boys is about Ohio State’s National Championship winning Maurice Clarett and Jim Tressel. Obviously Clarett made some big mistakes later on in life but the documentary presents when the NCAA came knocking, he didn’t have off the field issues, just minor NCAA violations that are common at every school, but there had been a recording that yeah he would like to go straight to the league, a RB has only so much tread, Clarett had injury issues. He didn’t want to wait 3 years, didn’t know if he could.

NCAA couldn’t have that, oh no.

After his historic true freshman year, when there was speculation about trying to go to the league and challenging the NFL rules, the NCAA came down hard on him.. and Ohio State’s pea brained AD turned on Clarett and threw him under the bus because Clarett called him out for lying.

Clarett rattled the cage of the big bad NCAA and they put him back in his place. And he made some horrible decisions when he was down but has turned it around. Fascinating story.

I highly recommend watching it. I loved it. Every coach should make his players watch that, about getting in with wrong crowd, and dealing with demons. He’d be a great speaker for a team to have as well.
