Post 2023 Analysis

A lot went Ole Miss’ way this season. We maximized our season and got to 10 wins. Kudos to all those involved. Heck of a job

We were/ are walking a tight rope. Change a few things and we are 8-5 or 7-5. We are operating within a tight margin of error and it went our way.

How do we take the next step? Can we take the next step? What would it take to take the next step? So how do we best deploy our resources for maximum effectiveness?

Imho, like most places we have finite resources. Not a criticism, just facts.

We appear to have very good talent. 1-3 elite players but not enough game changers to compete with UGA & Bama. So do we focus our NIL cash on 4-5 studs? Or spread it around to built depth on the 2 deep?

I’d also like to see more player development of what we have. Something is going on there and it will eventually catch up and cost us.

MSU Bowl Possibility

There’s 14 spots remaining.

Utah State got to 6-6

James Madison and Jax State would get the first 2

Minnesota, Rice will be ahead because of APR.

The winner of Syracuse and Wake Forest will get in because Syracuse has 5 wins and Wake Forest has 4 but has a better APR

So that leaves 8 spots.

So 5-6 teams that are favored to win are:
-UCF vs Houston
- Northern Illinois vs Kent State
-Old Dominion vs Georgia State
-Louisiana Lafayette vs ULM
- Illinois vs Northwestern
- Virginia Tech vs Virginia
-Marshall vs Arkansas State
- South Florida vs Charlotte
- Colorado State vs Hawaii

If the favorites win that’s 10 teams that are 6-6. But in the event that there are some underdogs winning here are the 5-6 teams that aren’t favored.

-Navy (5-5) vs SMU
-BYU vs Oklahoma State
-Washington State vs Washington
-Florida vs Florida State
-South Carolina vs Clemson
-Cal vs UCLA

Here’s last week’s thread, in case you missed it:

I’m currently on the road and plan on having a more in-depth post later today. 2024 RB Anthony Carrie de-committed from Michigan State today. I expect Ole Miss to shift to him if they don’t gain traction with Kewan Lacy. I expect Florida and Miami to be in on him as well.

Texas Passing game

Conceps with the current run game is goals for me. I understand their offensive personnel is better but the quick passing attack and using middle of the field with a passion. It's odd I've seen it a couple of weeks from the Rebs this year but they just refuse to stay the course with it. I understand I'm nit picking. The offensive is still super good. I just see it stopping themselves a bunch when really unnecessary.

OT: Netflix

on todays Bill Simmons pod, they were talking about how Netflix content has become todays version of “water cooler talk”; as in, comparable to NBC’s “Must See TV” in the 90s or HBO in the 2000s that “everyone” watched and talked about at work the day after it aired.

The premise was that everyone watches whatever comes up on Netflix and that they are driving the pop culture conversation like the top TV shows used to do.

Does anyone agree with this?

Personally, I’ve never watched anything on Netflix that I cared about beyond being somewhat entertained at the time. Most of it seems like cheap garbage content

Salma Hayek Actress GIF

First trip ever to Davis Wade yesterday, and surprisingly, everything was really good.

Much, much better than I ever expected. Seriously, I can not think of a single thing to complain about. Except for long lines to men’s bathroom and concessions but they moved really fast. That’s it, nothing else. I was very surprised.
anybody else find it a lot better than you anticipated?
