Listened to the pod today, and I do agree that the G5 automatic bid is silly.

However, the reason behind it isn’t political correctness. The reason is because of lawsuits. It’s probably been a decade or so ago or more, but there was a big push from those leagues that automatic bids were designed to keep out certain leagues, and they were arguing I believe on antitrust or something like that.

In order to try to avoid fighting that, they made it where there would be at least one invite for a G5 conference. It basically ended the legal fight.

Just wanting to clarify that, because it’s all about avoiding lawsuits, not about some liberal political correctness. I think it dates all the way back to 2004 and Utah if I recall. That’s when the push started.

That’s also why the language around the automatic bids next year doesn’t designate ANY conference by name. The SEC and Big 10 don’t have automatic bids. The automatic bid language is just the Top 6 ranked conference champions. They’ll likely reduce that to 5 before next year due to the Pac-12 death, but it’ll still leave room for that G5 bid.

I know he has picked up a couple of bonuses this season but what was the year two base to be?

Any more talk about them moving to Nashville? Really rooting for it.

I know this is random, but is it just me or has TV prices dropped significantly over the last few years?

You can certainly find expensive ones, but I’ve seen plenty of 65 inch smart tv’s, 4K this and that, for less than 500. Some less than 300. I am not sure you could have gotten a 40 inch “dumb” tv for less than 350 2018-2019.

Flying out tomorrow morning 8:20, haven’t flown in a while and never on a holiday. How early should I arrive? Should I expect TSA delays due to lack of employees?

I’m on the @Brian Rippee train the Memphis Airport always depresses me . Everything is closed the people are incompetent. Baggage claim has been down for 10 minutes . I really dread flying back to Philky on Sunday because I know this place is going to be worse and the restaurant won’t be open even though it’s mid afternoon .
