Are you confused as to while Lane Kiffin is so obsessed with and hateful towards Auburn? Well look no further, your favorite Auburn X Journalist has all the answers you’re searching for down below. No pay wall for this beat. Just gotta click “see more” promise it’s more educational on the matter than half the crap we click about Auburn.This all started when Kiffin was the front runner for the Auburn job after we fired Harsin. In all seriousness, he was not only the front runner, but he was offered the job.Anyone without fan bias will tell you that Auburn is historically a better job than ole Miss. Combine that with a lot of NIL money, the newest football facility in college football, and a schedule guaranteed to be tough enough to make a playoff run in good years, it’s a no brainer for a serious head coach. Kiffin, knowing all of that, was ready to accept. One caveat, his family really enjoyed Oxford. They already knew people there and the team was nice to the kids as well as Juice. In comes a shitty reporter, jumping the gun, spilling the news that Kiffin is coming to Auburn. Sokolov or something like that. The news busts before lane has a chance to get the family on board. Lane gets pissed (probably because his wife is pissed at him for accepting a job without talking to her) and he pulls out. Lane tells himself he can win at Ole Miss. Doesn’t need Auburn. Auburn would mean he has to give up on Alabama anyway. The dust settles after Hugh Freeze is hired. The new facility is opened. Hugh starts using that NIL war chest. Lane realizes he messed up. He should’ve taken the Auburn job. He starts throwing jabs online at Auburn and Hugh. Instead of responding on Twitter, Hugh responds in recruiting. Both staff and players. Lane takes jabs and posts online. Hugh takes high school recruits Lane has his eye on and solid coaches that know Auburn is a step up from where they were, Ole Miss. At this point there are two things that can make Lanes decision to not go to Auburn the right choice. 1.Winning a natty for Ole MissOR2.Becoming the next head coach of AlabamaNatty hasn’t happened. Players and coaches are leaving before a year where they are the front runners for a national championship (besides Georgia lol). Lane isn’t offered the Alabama job. Auburns trending up. It is what it is. Let’s not pretend that Auburn fans didn’t want Kiffin. Let’s not pretend he isn’t a great head coach. Let’s especially not pretend that Kiffin + the backing of Auburn twitter wouldn’t have been the most mesmerizing force of memes you’ve ever seen. It did not happen and that is ok, at least for us Auburn fans. Hugh is doing a great job so far. Team is trending in the right direction. Lane is bitter knowing of what almost was. He made a rash emotional decision and it still eats at him. Anytime I see Lane Kiffin tweeting about Auburn, I know he’s still thinking about that crazy life changing week where he had the job, then rejected the job, then regretted rejecting the job.
