Ole Miss will entertain San Antonio, Texas, WR Dannon Cavil on an official visit next weekend. Cavil, who is committed to Ole Miss, will enroll in January. -- NM
While he'll be the only official visitor _ yes, that means Crete, Ill., WR Laquon Treadwill is not visiting officially for the Vanderbilt game, contrary to rumors to that effect _ he won't be the biggest name on campus that weekend. -- NM
The nation's top-ranked recruit, Loganville, Ga., DE Robert Nkemdiche, will be making yet another unofficial visit that weekend. As we've reported, he'll be joined in Oxford by the rest of his family, including his mother, Beverly, who is in the States for a few weeks and his older brother, who lives in California. While we can't independently confirm rumors that Nkemdiche will flip from his commitment to Clemson and commit to Ole Miss over the course of next weekend, we can't shoot it down either. Bottom line is this: We expect Robert Nkemdiche to sign with Ole Miss in February. -- NM
We've also heard Nkemdiche and family is supposed to be in Athens this weekend, watching Ole Miss and Denzel play Georgia. -- CP
Only one of Nkemdiche's teammates at Grayson High School, cornerback David Kamara, is a legitimate Ole Miss target at this point, per sources. Even if Nkemdiche flips, look for Kamara to likely remain committed to Clemson, per sources. -- NM
Nkemdiche's commitment to Ole Miss, when and if it happens, could have an impact on a few high-profile targets. Sources close to the situation believe Nkemdiche's switch to Ole Miss (again, if and when it happens) could have a positive effect on Avon, Ind., DE Elijah Daniel and, to a lesser degree, Alpharetta, Ga., DE Carl Lawson. Daniel is giving Ole Miss a hard look. Lawson could too, depending on the fallout from Auburn's disastrous season. -- NM
Another national recruit, Richmond, Va., RB Derrick Green, is expected to visit Ole Miss officially in January. Green is, at the very least, interested in what Nkemdiche does, per sources. Green, who appears to be leaning slightly to Michigan, could visit Ole Miss for the Egg Bowl late next month. However, it's more likely he visits in January. Obviously the Rebels would rather he come in January. -- NM
Another name to keep an eye on in the coming months is four-star WR Stacy Coley. The Oakland Park, Fla., native is intrigued by Ole Miss and will likely visit. He has dozens of offers, but there is strong mutual interest, and his name is one to follow. Coley visited during the summer with his 7-on-7 travel team. Another longshot worth following is Washington commitment/Moreno Valley, Calif., four-star WR Demorea Stringfellow. He recently visited Nebraska and plans a visit to Ohio State as well. Ole Miss has worked hard to land a visit also, and there's a chance it will happen. However, Washington remains very much the team to beat. -- NM
Arkansas has tried to make a run at Ole Miss linebacker commit Rashawn Smith in recent weeks, though it doesn't seem like Smith is being overwhelmingly receptive. He told me last night: "I caught the winning field goal (Saturday), but I've seen almost all (Ole Miss') games and I can tell that team this year is building a great foundation for next year, and I'm glad I get a chance to be a part of it." Smith said he hopes to be in town for the Vandy game next weekend. -- CP
River Ridge, La., LB Duke Riley will visit Ole Miss in January. The Rebels remain the favorites for his signature. Riley commented to Chase yesterday that Hugh Freeze is really turning the program around Four-star DB Antonio Conner is leaning to Ole Miss, per sources close to him. However, there are people close to him pushing him to Mississippi State, and his signing with Ole Miss is far from certain. Keep an eye on the recruitment of Memphis OT Christian Morris. Ole Miss is gaining some ground there thanks to Morris' mother's desires for her son, who is currently committed to UCLA, to stay close to home. Nebraska remains a huge threat for Morris, however. Sources close to the Ole Miss program continue to have positive feelings about the Rebels' chances with Rosedale, Miss., RB/Miss. State commitment Kailo Moore. The same sources don't feel as good about Ole Miss' chances with Fulton, Miss., RB/ATH Ashton Shumpert. Miss. State appears to be the leader for Shumpert, and Georgia remains a threat there as well... Holmes Community College WR Jonathan Rumph visited Texas Tech two weeks ago and has a visit scheduled for Athens this weekend, last we heard. -- NM
A couple of Ole Miss' 2013 baseball commits have been in Jupiter, Fla., the last couple weeks for one of the last major showcases prior to next June's Draft. Honestly, Ole Miss would likely prefer velocities be a little down and things to not go that well. Just keepin' it real. RHP Cheyne Bickel was 85-88 MPH and peaked at 90. He also showed a nice 1-7 curve in the low 70s. He's a Draft danger, but those aren't velocities that will pop an incredibly high number in the Draft for a right-hander, I wouldn't think... LHP Evan Anderson topped at 89 or 90 MPH, but he's a big physical left, and one Ole Miss desperately wants on campus. He's also done very well with a hard change-up (78 or so). He had eight strikeouts and allowed three hits in five innings -- CP
