It's Sylvester Williams Day here at RebelGrove.com!! Not really, but kind of. Neal and I didn't do a very good job of communicating last night and both ended up talking to the Coffeyville, Kansas, defensive tackle. Neal also skipped out on my birthday dinner, so until further notice Kyle Veazey is my favorite Ole Miss beat writer. He showed up.
Anyway, I digress. I've got a notebook out front talking to Williams, Co-Lin speedster Wesley Pendleton and Pearl River CC's Otha Foster. Williams and Foster are definite December grads, and it's a probability with Foster, I think.
Williams' top-five is North Carolina, USC, Ole Miss, Georgia and Oklahoma State in no order. He's all about playing time, and the Rebels can definitely provide that.
Ole Miss coach Derrick Nix conducted an in-home with Madison, Miss., wide receiver Tobias Singleton last night. Singleton and I communicated this morning, and he described the visit as "OK." State used its in-home with Singleton Sunday night. Tobias told me he is leaving for his UCLA official visit at 10 a.m. this morning. He'll return Sunday and then leave for the Mississipi-Alabama All-Star Football Classic Monday in Mobile, Ala. Just to reiterate, Singleton has never said MSU leads or Ole Miss trails. In fact he hasn't mentioned a leader at all in nearly a year. It's my opinion that Ole Miss has ground to make up between now and National Signing Day (Sources close to the Ole Miss program share that opinion). It's not over, but it's absolutely not a sure thing either.
Ole Miss offered Los Angeles Harbor Community College safety Byron Moore this week. Moore signed an LOI with USC but ended up at Harbor, due to the Trojans' NCAA troubles. Moore is visiting Tennessee this weekend and has trips scheduled for Oregon State, Ohio State and Washington in January. The Rebels are hoping for the fifth and final official visit but have competition from LSU and Boise State, along with one or two others. It's a long shot, but there you go. I think he'll have three to play three.
