It’s not what you want to hear, but there’s still a chance to make the playoffs. Our backs are against the wall. This isn’t just about the loss to LSU at night; it’s more about the loss to Kentucky right now. However, if we focus on winning against Oklahoma, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, and Mississippi State, and finish strong at 5-0, we can still be that 10-2 team that deserves a playoff spot based on our reputation.
This team needs to be resilient. They have to find the silver lining and improve. Lane doesn’t have a free pass like many of you think. He has family in Oxford. No 50-year-old man is the same as he was in his early 30s. Everyone needs to take a breath. Before Kiffin’s arrival, we were the laughingstock of college football, having DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, and Dawson Knox on the same roster and not being able to do anything with them. We should show some gratitude. Before Lane Kiffin, I was embarrassed to be associated with Ole Miss.
At the end of the day, the NCAA opened Pandora’s box with the portal and NIL. It’s never been tougher for young men than it is today. Our country isn’t doing these young men any favors, and now they have the added pressure of NIL. We all need to step and recognize that some of the things being said aren’t good for ourselves or others. We need to take responsibility for how we’ve contributed by buying into NIL, which is a problem in this sport, and understand that we’re not doing this for Ole Miss, but often to serve some selfish need within us.
I’m proud to be an Ole Miss Rebel, and may God bless you all with a good Sunday.
