The Davon Durant watch enters day three today. Friendly reminder that he has until Jan. 15 to make a decision. Obviously we don't expect it to go that long, but that's the context of the situation.
As Neal reported last night, as of then, Ole Miss was giving Durant space to think. It's down to the Rebels and Arizona State.
Durant is making sure of his decision. Nothing has happened since his visit to cause issues. He just has to pick one.
We'll monitor, obviously.
Notre Dame has jumped into the game for Mykelti Williams.
Malik Jefferson is committing to Texas, Texas A&M or UCLA in less than an hour. The Longhorns have made a strong move due to A&M's lack of a defensive coordinator, but TAMU has been the favorite for a while. Obviously you'd prefer the Horns or Bruins. Get him out of the conference.
Ryan Newsome is planning to release a top four next week. He's a slot receiver at the next level. DaMarkus Lodge remains the key target at wide receiver, but Ole Miss is still recruiting Newsome, as well. Texas is a guarantee to be in his top four, and the Horns are trying to sell him on snaps in the backfield.
Not really a recruiting note, but TAMU fired its offensive line coach yesterday. That's the third different assistant gone from College Station this offseason.
Leo Lewis and Drew Richmond leave for the Under Armour AA game in few days. Lodge and offensive lineman Toby Weathersby are a couple targets in that game with them. Weathersby, the former Texas commit, said he's in daily contact with Ole Miss, LSU and Arkansas.
