Beyond down and distance and clock and whats working and whats not working, great coaches understand the flow of the game, and recognize, based on the situation, what play to call, how to set it up, when to punt, when kick field goals, when to play coverage and the like. Its called managing the game.

Belichick was pretty good at it. Saban. Don Shula. All had ridiculously good records in one score games in their career.

Our guy didn't have his best year on that in 2024. He's got 9 months to stew over it. I don't know if our team will be better than 9-3 in 2025, but i bet he'll be better at game managing in 2025.
