There was a post asking if we would be in the SECCG if we had been 10-2. The sentiment with that was the idea that because we beat Georgia we would have the tiebreaker. Now we all know the Kentucky loss was dragging us down the standings because everyone else had the tiebreaker over them.
I will say this and people aren’t really talking about it. One of the reasons we wouldn’t be is because Mississippi State is on our schedule. Year after year, if State is this bad it’s going to screw us over time and time again when it comes to resume and strength of schedule. Our strength of schedule is going to be lower than the other SEC teams if they are always a sh*t team. All the teams who played State were at a disadvantage in the SEC standings because of common opponents and their cumulative SEC record being so low from playing winless state. I know we want State to suck because it’s our in-state rival and helps our recruiting, but it is a slight double edged sword.
