Two new recruiting stories out front this morning.
Rivals.com Midwest recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt talked to Ole Miss soft commit Jake Meador. Meador will visit three more schools before making a final decision. Ole Miss gets the last visit. UM offensive line coach Matt Luke went and saw Meador a few days ago, and they hit it off pretty well. However, both sides are still feeling each other out.
I talked to Jeremy Liggins yesterday afternoon following his visit to Ole Miss over the weekend. In full disclosure, my phone messed up, dropped the call, and I never could get him back on the phone, but I made do with what I had. Offensive lineman A.J. Hawkins was his host during the visit. It went well. He's happy with Hugh Freeze's offense. The Rebels maintain that they are going to give him a shot at quarterback. He's got three more visits lined up before announcing on Jan. 30, but it's kind of up in the air regarding how many teams are hard after him right now. LSU just committed the No. 1 QB in the country, and Alabama is having number issues. Auburn has cooled now that Gus Malzahn is headed to Arkansas State. We remain confident it's Ole Miss.
EMCC QB Bo Wallace is expected to announce his decision on Wednesday. Supposedly it's Baylor, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, but the two Mississippi schools are the favorites. Ole Miss has been the offer he's wanted for a long time, and now he has it. I guess it's possible the Rebels waited a little too long, but we'll see. I'd definitely guess Ole Miss.
Dead period has begun and runs through Thursday because of the annual coaching convention.
