I was comparing the 2-10 2011 team with State’s 2-10 team this year.
Yes they were more competitive but it’s different with this new era of football.
In 2011, Nutt’s staff sat the veteran players who basically packed it in for the year and let the young players who wanted to play get out there.
Sure we were awful but we saw players like Donte Moncrief, Cody Prewitt, etc. flash.
MSU has some good young talent like Van Buren, Booth, Smith and Craver. The difference is with the transfer portal, you can’t bank on them returning. Why would a freshman who broke out remain on a team that went 2-10 and winless in the SEC, when an establish program is offering valuable minutes to you?
