AUBURN, Alabama—Part of Gus Malzahn’s coaching staff since 2014 and most recently working as Auburn's NFL liason as well as handling the walk-on program while also dealing with high school coaches, veteran football coach Doug Goodwin has been a valuable part of the program for the Tigers.

Now he will be working for the opposition with a move expected to come for Goodwin to Ole Miss where he will be working as a special teams analyst for Lane Kiffin’s coaching staff in Oxford.

Goodwin will be reunited at Ole Miss with Blake Gideon. The two worked together at Auburn when Gideon was a graduate assistant under Will Muschamp. Gideon was recently named the special teams coordinator for the Rebels.

Coaching 29 seasons on the high school level before making the move to Auburn, Goodwin’s teams made 22 state playoff appearances, including 20 straight. He also coached in five state title games with a win in 2004 when Demopolis High School set a state record for points scored in a season at 761.

I know Bama was first to hire "analysts" and we are now officially Analyst poor. Where does blame or credit lie when we win or lose? I'd love to see the figures on this added expense.
