I talked to a lot of people in Dallas, including some who cover Florida. As you know, Florida coach Billy Napier is embattled, to a degree. And yes, there are some Florida boosters who have their collective eye on Lane Kiffin. However, Napier has some real support at Florida, and if he were relieved of his duties this year, he would be owed $25 million, per media who cover Florida. Also, there would be other candidates the Gators would want to explore if they decided to make a change. Napier is well-respected and well-liked by administration there, and I got the feeling things would have to go very bad for him to be fired. Further, there's a sense among some that this Gators team will be better than it's being given credit for in the preseason.
In other words, as you should've known by now if you read this site and/or listen to podcasts affiliated with this site, you should know Kiffin-to-Florida rumors are all but inevitable. However, it's far more complicated than asking, "Would Kiffin leave Ole Miss for Florida?" or "Is Florida a better job than Ole Miss?" Money is a major issue these days, even at Florida, and $25 million to a coach just to go away (and that doesn't include assistants or the money required to buy out another coach) is a steep ask in these uncertain times.
And talk to anyone in college athletics these days and they'll tell you these are absolutely uncertain times.
