JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum announced their finalists for the 2025 Howell Trophy presented by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and Pearl River Resort, selecting Ole Miss guard Sean Pedulla as one of the three up for the award. The Howell Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding men's college basketball player in the state of Mississippi and is named after Bailey Howell.
A transfer from Virginia Tech, Pedulla has fueled Ole Miss on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball this season, leading the team in points per game, assists, made threes, and steals. He ranks third in the conference and top-50 in the nation with 54 steals this season, and is one swipe away from entering the top 10 for most in a single season at Ole Miss. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.08 ranks sixth in the SEC. The senior from Edmond, Okla. averages 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
One of three finalists that will be celebrated at the award presentation, Pedulla is joined by Josh Hubbard of Mississippi State and Daeshun Ruffin of Jackson state.
The finalists were selected by a panel of statewide media who cover college basketball, with the same panel tasked to select this year's winner which will be announced during a luncheon and presentation on March 10 at the Golden Moon at Peral River Resort.
The luncheon is open to the public, but tickets must be purchased in advance.
