now that we got rid of our former coach, I think we can focus on trying to get a better hire to become a better program. I don't think we are fukd like so many others seem to think.

Sure, we lost our coach but we have talented players, both 4 and 5 star, redshirted as well as with playing experience. So as long as the NCAA doesn't do anything deadly, maybe we can keep the current team together. Then if we can do that and go out and win a nice chunk of games, maybe we can entice some recruits to come here anyway.

We have the money to pay for a good coach since OM didn't have to pay Freeze jack. So we can use that on someone. If Crime turns out to be good as a DC then maybe that side will be okay. Hopefully Peveto is a good LB coach and Crime is good at coaching safeties because they've been shit the past two years. Luke, I feel, is underrated as an OL coach but is a good recruiter, considering the likes of Tunsil, Little, Rod Taylor, Patterson et. al that he got in here.

So if we can stay alive, not get done over by the NCAA and keep this current team together, we can win some games and make a decent hiring and put all this garbage in the rearview mirror.

ROFL-what you don't seem to understand is that NCAA is going to make certain your punishment deters you and others from committing crimes in the future. This is far worse than a Bruce Pearl bb q and the NCAA crushed the Vol bball program. I would expect three years no post season and 50 total schollies. No good coach will touch you.

the coach's personal life is not the same as program violations.

the hookers were for freeze, apparently.

and considering that the one death penalty that was had, SMU was outright giving players money, unless something liek that is discovered, I doubt we get total warred

It's hard to know what's going on, Freeze is obviously a liar, he lied to anyone who was asking a question. Whoever brought Nutt into this mess screwed up, he wasn't going to be the fall guy.

I don't know whats going to happen with OM football from all of this, expecting anything other than some pretty serious sanctions is being awfully hopeful. This brings you to the next step. Who will be the next head coach? With what is likely to be some major scholarship reductions, a young coach looking to climb the ladder is going to run away, fast. So that means you go with a coordinator, a coach fired from his other job or someone who has just resigned. I would steer clear of Kiffin, don't think OM can risk bringing him in. The young coaches don't want their first P5 job at a place handcuffed by sanctions which will surely lead to being fired and a poor record. If I were an OM administrator, I would be calling Les Miles or Bob Stoops, both are nearing the ends of successful careers and I don't think you can get a better resume to show interest

I can appreciate that optimistic outlook, but I really feel as if you might be whistling past the graveyard. This whole thing with Freeze was really worst case scenario and now there's even more stuff coming out, like OM's violation of the NCAA cooperation principle - see my post above.

If you could get Miles cheap, I think it is worth the risk. He is a very good recruiter. Maybe he can mitigate the years while the sanctions hit you hard and the program does not totally bottom out. Because you are not going to get a top of the line coach with this hanging over the program.

Very smart post. I think you are right....find a coach that has had a long career and possibly looking for a challenge. I have seen these things first hand with my program and can tell you when the mule is in the ditch...you need a very seasoned old hand to help get it out. We had a similar situation in Columbia when our coach died amid scandal...on the eve of us entering the SEC no less. We hired a the best up and comer we could....big mistake. He actually was a pretty decent coach..but the things going on around the program was just too much for him. Les Miles would be call no.1..imo. Anyway brother...good luck..hate to see this for any SEC brotherhood fanbase. Peace

Why not Jay Hopson? The guy is a winner, an Ole Miss guy who is not likely to bail at first opportunity, and brings no known baggage with him.

Frankly,I don't think any good coach or a coach worth his "salt" will touch Ole Miss right now. Much to much baggage to deal with.

No decent coach will come to Ole Miss right now. No idea why this is so hard to understand. Your best bet is to make Matt Luke permanent.

You won't be able to hire a new coach until the sanctions are handed down and that's not coming before the end of the 2017 season. So the coach you hire will come on board not knowing what the sanctions are.

So your only realistic options are Matt Luke, or a completely unproven former player. Maybe a former player who is a high school HC, or a WR coach in college.

But you can forget Bob Stoops or Les Miles, good grief. Maybe Bob Miles or Les Stoops.

Everyone is talking about Freeze and we had pres.get a blow job in the white house.
go figure.

20 years ago, old news. It's not so much that Freeze was calling escorts, it is that he leads with his religion everytime a mic is in his face, nothing wrong with that if it was real. But as everyone knows now it wasn't, and he is still doing it. He is a laughing stock. He lied to players, recruits, OM fans, OM administration, the general public about his professional career and I would guess he lied to his family about his personal career.

Wouldn't want mullen either with a record like 3-33 against top 25 teams.
