I’ve seen numerous posts saying that once we hire a new coach, the problems will be fixed right away and we’re good to go.
While I realize that Bianco has to go, I’m afraid we’re in for a lengthy rebuild.
Let’s get the coach part out of the way first. We’re not getting Schloss or Vitello. Obviously the next best coaches after those two will vary per person. Probably our best case scenario is Bakich or Godwin, unless a Beard type of scenario happens.
Now, we’re already behind in baseball NIL, and have far more needs than any SEC program, outside of maybe Mizzou. Every time we want (desperately need) an elite player, they’ll be pursued by TN, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, etc. Those teams currently have better programs and, seemingly, more NIL than us.
The gist is this might be a hole that takes several years to dig from, unless we get a dump truck of cash delivered to the program and an elite head coach.
