Tobias Singleton is saying he will not visit Mississippi State this weekend, nor will Joe Price. Fox40 reported that it's due to State fan's backlash after committing to Ole Miss Saturday. If he doesn't visit, it's safe to say Tobis is solid to the Rebels. No reason to worry about him right now.
We continue to hear that State is out of it for Nick Brassell. It's Ole Miss and Alabama, and most believe the Rebels will eventually sign the state's top player, although it might be a tad dramatic between now and then. As Neal reported yesterday, Nick hasn't taken the ACT, but he can take official visits because he has taken the PLAN.
We've hinted for days -- and really weeks -- that Jermaine Whitehead is really more committed to Ole Miss than Mississippi State. There's a possibility he makes it public and switches soon. That's not a definite, mind you, but we're hearing from a lot of angles that the Rebels are the prohibitive favorite for Whitehead. Rivals.com's Logan Lowery said on the radio this morning that Whitehead said he might be done with visits and likely won't visit MSU this weekend.
Adam Gorney is reporting this morning (in a story on our front page) that Uriah Grant continues to consider Miami, but Ole Miss and Washington are the frontrunners. The 'Canes haven't offered yet, and even if they do, it won't be automatic.
In other defensive tackle news, Jonathan Jenkins told the AJC that he will likely visit Tennessee, Florida and maybe Auburn and that Oklahoma State is out. He never mentioned Ole Miss. I have doubts that Jenkins has committable offers right now. His stock has fallen, it seems.
C.J. Johnson watch continues. Rivals.com is predicting him to Ole Miss and some are going as far as saying MSU is out for the linebacker. I can't go that far at all, but the Rebels are definitely in it. Some are talking about C.J.'s Facebook post from yesterday. He asked people if he'd look better in maroon and white or RED AND BLUE (he capitalized those words). The vote was overwhelmingly maroon and white, and then he announced that those colors had more votes. HE WASN'T PICKING A SCHOOL. He's since deleted the second post that said maroon and white. In short, don't read much into Facebook posts. You're wasting your time.
