Some are warranted some are not. But as a man of an impeccable imagination and so few sources, that I'm Not sure what the word means in terms of journalism. I will tell the truth of what has happened over the last few weeks.
Late October, Harsin is fired. As always Kiffin's name gets floated, but not so fast this time. Kiffin is in a Renaissance. He wants to show the coaching world that he is a stable candidate for a long term gig. The money begins to be brought up prior to the Arkansas game. Enough money to make him at least listen, so that is what he does, listens.
In walks JayG, Neal, and Chase. JayG can no longer afford trips to see middle aged women do stand up comedy with the amount of bland names that are listed on the Auburn coaching search. Neal, wanting one last big hit to retire off of, sees an opportunity. Finally, Chase, the worst of all three in this sees a chance to take over RebelGrove.com and pounces.
The plan is simple: let Lane know they're going to hype him as the AU candidate, He uses it for negotiation with OM and walks off with an extra couple million.
Jay gets a few weeks to hype Kiffin to AU, he gets a money haul and back on his feet right before Christmas.
Neal uses this whole thing to hype a huge future coaching search, and hype the drama of the Kiffin/AU flirt for one last payday prior to retiring off to Iowa.
Perfect plan right? UNTIL it went off of the rails.
Lane goes on his Twitter rampage after the rumors get too loud. Telling all three it is time to end it. Neal and Jay G agree the time to end it is over. But Chase, the ever ambitious, tells Neal of @trigglori a wealthy lawyer with a short fuse. Willing to pay off anyone who he deems an issue with OM athletics. So here we are in a toxic wasteland of hate and vitriol all due to Chase Parham's blind ambition.
