Three Rebels Taken During Day Two of 2025 NFL Draft
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Three Rebels were selected during the second day of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Friday.
Wide receiver Tre Harris and cornerback Trey Amos both heard their name called in the second round, as Harris was picked by Los Angeles Chargers with the 55th pick and Amos went 61st overall to the Washington Commanders. Defensive end Princely Umanmielen became the third Rebel selected on the day when the Carolina Panthers drafted him with the 77th overall pick.
Combined with first-round selections Walter Nolen (Arizona Cardinals, 16th overall) and Jaxson Dart (New York Giants, 25th overall), Ole Miss tallied five picks in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, the most Rebels ever taken within the first three rounds of any professional football draft. The previous record was four picks in 1966, 1968 and 2019.
Harris spent two highly productive seasons as Jaxson Dart's primary passing target, concluding his Ole Miss career with 114 receptions for 2,015 yards and 15 touchdowns across 20 games played and 19 starts. As a Rebel, Harris averaged 100.8 yards and 5.7 catches per game for 17.7 yards per reception – making him one of two in SEC history alongside Florida's Jabar Gaffney (103.3) with a career average of 100 yards receiving per game.
Harris concluded his time as a Rebel tied for second in 200-yard receiving games (2), fourth in 100-yard receiving games (10), tied for eighth in receiving touchdowns (15), 11th in receiving yards (2,015) and tied for 21st in receptions (114). Combined with his time at Louisiana Tech, Harris ended with a total career receiving line of 220 catches for 3,532 yards and 29 TD in 51 games played and 40 starts.
Harris only needed eight games in 2024 to become the sixth Rebel to break 1,000 yards receiving in a season, with his 804 yards through five games ranked as the most of the College Football Playoff era and the most since Oregon State's Brandin Cooks in 2013 (807). Harris led the SEC in 30-yard receptions (12; No. 5 FBS) and was tied for the SEC lead in 40-yard catches (7; No. 4 FBS), while his 1,030 receiving yards ended up second in the SEC despite missing significant time due to injury.
In his one season in a Rebel uniform in 2024, Amos served as Ole Miss' lockdown corner, starting all 13 games as one of the premier pass defenders in the nation. Amos finished fifth on the team with 50 tackles and was tied for the team lead with three interceptions, led the team with 13 pass breakups – the most by a Rebel since 2015 – and added 3.5 TFL and one forced fumble on this history 2024 Rebel defense.
Amos finished the season as the SEC leader in both total passes defended (16) and passes defended per game (1.23), which respectively ranked tied for third and fifth nationally.
