Listening to Bruce reminded me it took him til year 4 to make the NCAAT. They finished 13th, 13th and 11th his first three years at AU. During that stretch their arena became one of the toughest/ fun places to play. Then they got good. And it’s the toughest environment in the SEC, now topping BWA.
If OM ever had a guide to go by it’s closely related to Auburn. That program was dead when Bruce got it and it took him some time to get it the way it is now. Beard should be commended for getting the environment to the point it was this week. OM fans are responding to bball environments much like the FB environments have become.
Auburn matters bc it’s a model to look at and say this program was dead and it was turned into a top tier team in the league with an arena that nobody wants to play in. Auburn also matters because as Beard builds this, the Auburn games are going to have bigger and bigger implications moving forward.
Auburn and Arkansas has been a heated rivalry in basketball since Muss arrived. Since Arkansas has fallen off you can clearly see that Beard and OM may replace Arkansas as contenders with Auburn.
