Mr. Irrelevant is the title given to the last person picked in the NFL Draft.

Brock Purdy is as bizarre a story as Tom Brady's.

Brady went in the 6th Round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He was considered too slow as he ran a 5.3 forty at the Combine and too skinny with just average arm strength. Well, the rest is History!

Brock Purdy was the last selection of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Iowa State. He was the 3rd String QB for the 49ers until the final 5 games of the 2022 season when he led San Francisco to the NFC Championship. This year, the 49ers are on their way to the Super Bowl.

No one is saying that he will surpass Brady but he is definitely off to a great start.

Ryan Succop, the placekicher from South Carolina, kicked for 14 years in the NFL for KC, Tennessee, and Tampa Bay. He is the only other Mr. Irrelevant who has enjoyed more than modest success. There was a guy named Chad Kelly who was Mr. Irrelevant in 2017 who has become a "star" in the CFL. I believe Kelly went to a college in the SEC.

Of course, there have been hundreds of Free Agents over the years who have become outstanding NFL players.

You just never know, do you?
