The DOE today announced the sale of 1 million barrels (42 million gallons) of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve. The gas will be sold in 100,000 barrel increments and released to successful bidders by June 30 in time for the July 4th holiday.
The NGSR was established after Superstorm Sandy to insure adequate emergency gasoline supply. It appears the release will essentially deplete the reserve.
When asked to comment, the President said "I have too much gas".
