TLDR: What irons should a high handicapper get?

I played a lot of golf in high school - I was never great, but I could break 80 at my home course most days. I didn't play much in college and when I came back to it, in my head, I was as good as I was in high school, but in reality - I was terrible. That was frustrating and I was spending $60 to be pissed off and then kids came and I didn't want to spend 5 hours away so I pretty much completely quit. I don't think I've played in a decade, maybe a decade and a half.

One of my sons has decided that he wants to give it a shot so I've been letting him knock some balls around our yard. I took him to a driving range recently and kind of have the itch to play some.

The problem is that my clubs are from high school, so mid-90s.

I probably will never have enough time to devote to it to be very good, but hitting a few balls with my son, I'm not starting from nothing - I don't think I'll be a complete hacker.

What irons would you suggest for someone who will need a pretty forgiving club, but might (hopefully) trend down fairly quickly?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
