It appears we have 22 commitments already with 6 or 7 (Who knows?) HS players and 2 or 3 JUCOS that we would also sign.
Presuming we bring in another 10-12 Portal guys who we will need, that adds up to approximately 40 new players. Of course, some of these HS players may drop off for various reasons, but that will still mean another notable year of transition.
We den't have anywhere near that number of players who will be using up their eligibility after this season so that will suggest that current roster "cuts" will have to be made.
Those heartwarming stories of years past where a kid puts in two to three years of development and then becomes a significant contributor are no more. If you don't show promise in Year One or no later than Year Two, you are probably out the door.
Thus, we should be prepared for another round of off-season "musical chairs". Projections from year to year are now pointless.
Maybe, we should just enjoy the season and let the "chips fall" where they may in this area.
