Looking at the national title odds, the only conference outside of the Big 10 or SEC with anyone in the top title odds are Clemson and FSU from the ACC.
The Big 12 has no one even within sight of the title odds, and definitely no G5 team.
With all this consolidation, it makes no sense to keep the auto-bids at all, but certainly no more than 4 are needed.
