This was mentioned on yesterday's podcast - how Lebron and Steph are still the biggest draws, but would not be considered top 10 players. Who are the top 10 right now?
The latest dated list I can find is from CBS from February.
CBS Top 25
It starts with Embiid. He puts up the numbers and belongs in the top 10, but I'm not sure about #1 - dude hasn't won much of anything.
I think my ranking would be:
1. Jokic
2. Giannis
3. SGA
4. Luka
5. Tatum
6. Ja
7. Embiid
8. Booker
9. Donovan Mitchell
10. Kawhi
The highest ranked player from CBS that I left off was Durant - he may belong in that 7-10 spot, but I think he's slipping pretty quickly
The top 10 in Win Share ranking from basketball reference are:
1. Jokic
2. SGA
3. Giannis
4. Domantas Sabonis
5. Luka
6. Anthony Davis
7. Rudy Gobert
8. Jalen Brunson
9. Jarrett Allen
10. Jayson Tatum
There are a number of different efficiency ratings that give roughly that same list. That one seems to value blocks and defense a bit more so Gobert and Jarrett Allen get included - I don't think anyone would have had Allen very close to a top 10 player.
Jalon Brunson doesn't come to mind when I think of top 10 players, but I know he had an awesome season.
