I made the statement yesterday that we are the worst 2nd quarter 3rd down team in the history of football right now. So I decided to look at some stats and see if anything jumped out at me.
I looked at all of Freeze's years and added up total points allowed and how many of those points were given up in the 2nd quarter of each game. Here are the numbers for points allowed:
2012 - Total Points Allowed: 359
Points allowed in the 2nd Q: 129
2013 - Total Points Allowed: 308
Points allowed in the 2nd Q: 81
2014 - Total Points Allowed: 208
Points allowed in the 2nd Q: 53
2015 - Total Points Allowed: 155
Points allowed in the 2nd Q: 53
In Freeze's first year, close to half the points we gave up came in the 2nd quarter. That number gradually went down over the next 2 years, with last year, we were great defensively in the 2nd quarter.
This year however, we've equaled the number last year and we're only mid way through the season.
