I always knew they were incredible, but my neighbor was a 2 time AA on that team, and I had the privilege of sitting down and talking with him about it for over an hour here recently, and it's unbelievable how good they really were.
They out scored their opponents on the season 350-21. Of those 21 given up, one TD was Cannon's punt return. One was a pick 6, and the only offensive one they gave up was off a fumble inside their own 20. In their rematch with LSU that they won 21-0 they never allowed LSU to cross midfield. I know people will argue it was pre integration, but to me that's irrelevant. The competition they faced they dominated to an extent that we haven't seen since.
