1) Starting Bateman was a panic move. He played well, but it prevented them from any consistency on offense. They wanted his mobility but never ran him. A few times he could have kept on the read option and gashed us but never did. I think our speed on defense got in their heads and they panicked with the Bateman start.
2) The Rebels went in there expecting to win. Alabama does not have a mystique to our guys. It is a lot like Tiger Woods from 10 years ago - his competitors would wilt on Sundays because he had this invincible aura about him and he would win before he set foot on the course. Bama had that same deal but not anymore with us. We were not scared or intimidated and it showed.
3) OL played their hearts out. They weren't perfect but they adapted and found a way. We ran the ball when we needed to for the most part (missing that last first down aside). We did a good job getting to the edge in the run game. That is the toughest run D we will face all year.
4) Laquon Treadwell is the best WR to ever wear the red and blue. He changes the entire game just being on the field.
5) Robert Nkemdiche is the best DL to ever wear the red and blue. And we have had some good ones.
6) I will tip my hat to Bama in one respect - those guys don't quit. They just kept coming and coming and clawing.
7) Anyone notice that the ESPN crew really only mentioned the Tunsil thing once or twice in passing? My guess is the SEC told them not to make a big deal out of it because we didn't want NCAA infraction to be the story.
8) I really like Fowler and Herbstreit, they are my favorite crew, but they did definitely seem Bama slanted last night. It was weird and really not like them. It stuck out to me as odd, and I am not usually the kind of guy that screams bias no matter who calls the game.
9) Tom Ritter is usually a pretty good ref, but he was either drunk last night or is having some type of health issue. He could barely get a sentence out.
