Neal, Chase, & Jeffrey - I recently left Scout because I really don't like the changes they've made to the site & I was sick & tired of the vitriolic political discussions that seemed to dominate the message boards. However, there are a few things that I really liked about the Scout site that I would like to suggest for the Rivals site. Also below are some things that I've noticed that could be updated/changed which would enhance the subscriber experience.
FOOTBALL:
- When you click on the "FB Recruiting" tab, I would love to see an option for "Prospects." Scout has it, and it's basically any kid who has us "medium" interest or better. Personally, I like to get a snapshot of some of the names that we could ultimately land.
- Also, when you click on the "FB Recruiting" tab, I would love to see an updated "Offers" tab in the drop down. Obviously, this would be for kids who have received an offer from OM, regardless of where they have us on their list. You do have this option, but it still says "2013 Offers." It's really hard to find the 2015 offer list. I had to go to the "FB Recruiting" page, and it's a tiny link on the right side of the page.
- Just below the "Offers" link, you see a few links for "Commitments" "Avg Stars" & "Rivals 100" - that's a great snapshot, but it always lags behind. As of right now, it's still the 2015 class. The same 2015 box is on the "Football" page as well.
- When you click on "Rankings" under the "FB Recruiting" tab it still lists the 2015 rankings. Moving it to 2016 would be great.
- On the home page, in the bottom right corner, the "Rivals 100" box still lists 2015, but the box under "FB Recruiting" has been update to 2016. Can we get the home page changed as well?
- Under the "Football" tab, the depth chart is from 2015, but the header says "2012 Depth Chart." I think we all understand that a constantly updated depth chart would be a lot of work, but just a general one would be great.
- Under the "Football" tab, the statistics are from 2013, but the header says "2012 Stats Leaderboard."
- Other rivals team sites show a more extended recruiting snapshot on the Home Page. For instance, Ohio State shows 15 players, while we show 10. Any chance we can make that box bigger? We have the room & the box on the "FB Recruiting" is the size I would like to see on the home page.
BASKETBALL:
- I know this isn't on you guys, but are they planning on building out the basketball recruiting to be more like football? The 2016 recruiting "Rankings by State" only includes Colorado. There are no "By Position" rankings at all. There is also no "Team Rankings" option to see how your team did compared to others.
- Is it possible to get the Rivals Basketball 150 box on the "BB Recruiting" page?
BASEBALL:
- One thing I really liked about Scout was that they always have a running list of Baseball commits and a little bio on them and their other offers. I know that Chase will occasionally share this info on the message board, but is there a way to have it easily linked on the "Baseball" page?
OVERALL:
- This goes for Football & Basketball - it feels like having "Home," "Football," "Football Recruiting," "Basketball," & "Basketball Recruiting" pages creates a ton of redundancies. Does it make sense to consolidate them into just 4 tabs?
- Home - latest news regarding all notable Ole Miss sports
- Football - only the latest football news including current team news & recruiting
- Basketball - only the latest basketball news including current team news & recruiting
- Baseball - only the latest baseball news including current team news & recruiting
At the end of the day, some of this may be too time consuming, I get that. But I would rather not have something at all (depth chart, stats, etc) than have it & it be outdated.
I can imagine that there are subscribers that are tech savvy that would be happy to volunteer to help you guys with some of the updating, etc. I know that I would be more than happy to help.
I think the key first step is to eliminate the plethora of redundancies. I believe that doing so will make the site as a whole much easier for the subscribers to navigate & the admins to update.
Thanks for hearing me out.
