TUCSON, Ariz. – Anthony Servideo has been one of the toughest outs in college baseball this season, and national pundits are taking notice as Ole Miss' junior shortstop was named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball on Monday.

Servideo was 7-for-14 at the plate last week with a stunning slash line of .500/.667/1.143. The junior out of Jupiter, Florida, homered three times, scored six runs, notched seven RBI, walked five times and was 3-for-3 on stolen bases.

Servideo's tremendous week began Wednesday night against Alcorn State, where he went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two stolen bases and two RBI, including a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Ole Miss the 9-8 win.

After a relatively quiet Friday night against Xavier (1-for-3 with two walks), Servideo picked it back up to close the weekend. He was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run to straightaway center field in Saturday's 9-0 victory. He again tested the limits of Swayze Field on Sunday, blasting another home run to the deepest part of the ballpark as part of a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored and two RBI.

It took Servideo just seven games in 2020 to match his career home run total with four. For the year, he is hitting an even .500 (12-for-24), slugging 1.042 with a .657 on-base percentage. He leads the team with a perfect 4-for-4 stolen base record and is tied for the team lead in runs scored (9), home runs (4) and RBI (10).

Servideo, along with junior first baseman Cael Baker, ranks seventh in the nation and first in the Southeastern Conference in home runs. He's also ninth nationally and second in the SEC in on-base percentage, 12th in the country and third in the league in slugging percentage and 30th nationally and second in the conference in batting average.

Servideo joins Ryan Olenek and Thomas Dillard as the third Rebel to be named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball in the last two seasons.
