All the conversation has been around how it's going to let an undeserving G5 team in, but is it actually going to let two undeserving teams in? Are we sure that letting the Big12 rep in is actually not only marginally better than always letting a G5 conference title winner in?
In the era of the 4 team playoff, the Big 12 appeared in 7 playoff games here are the results:
Sure, they always have a team ranked very high at the end of the year, but maybe they're being supremely overrated in that as well. Their only team with a win got absolutely mauled by their next opponent in the championship.
ETA: Forgot to include, OU and Texas are both leaving and joining the SEC and are being replaced with Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah. Really seems like to me they will most likely not have a worthy team most years either.
