Just think about the past 30 years before NIL? How many schools had top programs in each sport at the same time? I’m not talking one season, I’m talking about a multi-year period where both teams were competitive an an elite level in basketball and football?
I think Florida had a run with Meyer and Donovan. Anyone else?
My point is, it was almost never done before NIL, that’s when you just needed a good coach and facilities. Now you have to buy rosters in each sport. For 90% of programs it’s going to be impossible to do both. I actually predict there will be certain football programs that drop off because they will spend too much on basketball. They’ll regret it .
