It cost the Patriots a ring and it made absolutely no sense, but 7 years later we still don't have a straight answer. Brady threw for 500 yards but we benched our best corner for undisclosed reasons and the pass defense couldn't stop a nosebleed. Rumors are it was personal between Belichick and Butler, but nobody has ever explicitly said what happened. I imagine the Bentley situation will ultimately end up the same. He's obviously our best running back but just isn't playing, and it probably cost us the season.
