First, I am only starting a thread about Dik because we are in a quiet period. Absent a solid commitment by a star recruit, it will likely stay that way for another three weeks or so.
Second, I will give Prescott his due. He is a solid SEC QB that fits well in Mullens’ scheme and Mullens has likely adjusted his scheme to fit Dik. He is a very talented college QB and deserves all the preseason credit as the probably the best returning QB in the conference.
That said, I am nowhere close to ceding post season all-SEC status to him. There should be a lot of talent coming in as first and second year starters. I will use Chad Kelly as an example of what I am talking about. Certainly, there are other examples throughout the SEC. If Kelly is our starter and can make the right reads, he could be an outstanding QB. He inherits an offense that has the potential to be much better than last year because defenses will have to respect the deep ball. So, if he can improve the TD to Int ratio from Bo’s numbers last year, he could be more productive than Dik might be.
Like I mentioned earlier, Dik Prescott is an outstanding college and system QB. Will he be post season First Team All-SEC this year? Personally, I doubt it.
