Texas A&M uses Christian Kirk as a WR, and punt returner. Since we obviously continue to have problems back there, and since we've already used Lodge this year, so we've burned his redshirt, but I haven't seen him on the field since the first game, could we not just go ahead and throw him back there to at least put this year to use? At worst: he catches the ball, surely he can do this being a WR? And at best: he gets a few yards, maybe makes a good return a time or two, similar to Kirk? I know he may not be as dynamic as Kirk, but do we? They were both highly recruited and Lodge has some speed to him. I know punt return yards have been down nationwide, but our numbers are towards the bottom of the pile, maybe this could cause a spark in our offense?
I'm all about maximizing every opportunity, we've already burned his redshirt and he's obviously not breaking into the starting WR role this year, why not punt return? No need in him sitting the bench the rest of the year. Just my two cents, what do I know.
