What is the job of our linemen when we are not attempting to block the kick and have the "return" on? I noticed on two punts (that I paid attention to the linemen on) that they pretty much just turned around and watched the play.
Shouldn't they fall back and set up a blocking formation or at least engage the player in front of them for as long as possible? I suppose the coaches may have had "punt safe" calls on that involved the entire line. Thanks for any enlightenment.
