Over the weekend, as the news was revealed that the report from Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no collusion between President Trump and Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign, Democrats, celebrities and the media reacted with their usual fury at being denied an opportunity to bring down the president.

Celebrities had their moments of drama and utter idiocy. A couple of examples include singer/actress Bette Midler, who spoke of her “uncontrollable rage”: "#DonaldTrump has forced us to live through war as a nation for the last two years; he has caused depression, despair, confusion and death. We're not just sick at heart, but literally sick from him; from uncontrollable rage at the thought that he will get away with his crimes."

Or faux comedienne Chelsea Handler, whose sexual attraction to Robert Mueller apparently went from red-hot to ice-cold in the wake of Friday’s revelations.

Chelsea Handler before: "If I’m being completely honest, I am very sexually attracted to Robert Mueller. I know it’s not meant to be, but that doesn’t mean I won’t hang a poster of him above my bed."

CNN could barely contain their distress, whether it was Brian Stelter insisting that the media was not at fault for pushing the narrative of Trump-Russia collusion, saying:

So don’t be fooled by the partisans, who cherry-picked the worst mistakes of individual journalists or the craziest ideas from commentators and claim that’s the entire media. It’s not. We’re waiting for the facts, because here is what I know: You're going to hear it from the right for the next days and weeks to come, that the press basically made all of this up to take down President Trump. But the press is just following a trail that Trump created. He has proven time and time again that he cannot be trusted. He is so dishonest that even America’s allies don’t know what to believe.

... or Chris Cillizza, somehow turning the victory for the president into blaming him for “running down” Mueller’s investigation, asserting, “Donald Trump spent 18 months running down an investigation that has given him, largely, what he wanted: A credible and well investigated report that he nor his campaign colluded with the Russians.”

Democrats, devastated by the news, turned conspiratorial, implying that there were hidden gems in the full Mueller report that could still vindicate their pursuit of the president, and as usual, marching in lockstep with the message.

TURNING POINT for our country. If Democrats who went too far in their partisan and false claims of collusion can step back and admit their mistakes, we can heal. If CNN, NBC, MSNBC et al can realize their overreactions, then we have hope for fairer treatment in the future.

Totally agree, Rudy! Once we’ve all read the full report we’ll be able to trust the process and come together as a country again.
