telling it to a bunch of alums, students and fans who have developed a culture of apathy and championing mediocrity for the past 40-45 years.
So I applaud you loudly for saying we are the best team in America because when we do have everyone healthy, free of the NCAA and playing at their top of their games I believe that as well.
The thing you have to understand about Ole Miss fans is that in the modern era of college football (basically since integregation of the sport took place in the late 60's and early 70's with most programs) they nosticagically look back on the glory days of John Vaught when we were a national power, winning national titles and SEC titles. However when it came down to actually being committed to being a serious football program that is capable of winning at the highest level....we (Ole Miss) for many years used alot of things as excuses and adopted a culture of cronicism in and around the program-school in terms of how we recruited, where we recruited, who we recruited and committment to facilites, etc. It was pretty much like that from the early 1970's until the mid 1990's. We also for years have not wanted to pay and sacrifice as much as other neighboring programs.
People in life like winners and who act cocky at times. No one likes to lose and you can't spin losing or substiute the lack of winning for other irrelevant things such as best tailgating setup in America, etc or best party school in America, etc.
So I like it when someone such as Chad Kelly makes a comment like that. The only thing left to upgrade at Ole Miss are the expectations of the fanbase and how much they demand we win at the highest level. Alot of our fans are still satsified and happy with winning 7-9 games a year. That mindset comes from years and years of enduring losing and mediocrity at best.
