I come in peace. Am a UK fan just browsing over to see if any threads regarding this weekends match up. But this intrigued me so I clicked. Honest question from someone from the outside looking in.

With the black cloud hanging over Ole Miss and no idea what the NCAA will or will not do as sanctions, do you really believe Ole Miss can go and grab a top coordinator or a top non power 5 coach? I would just assume out of all those coaches, that not one of them would commit to go to Ole Miss given the uncertainty of the NCAA investigation.

Do you feel the same?

I believe that the dream is going to have to be sold. He is going to have to be told he will have full control, be given everything he could ever want as a head coach and be made to buy into the idea of bringing a SEC program out of the ashes. That may not be what happens nor will he be known as the greatest coach that ever lived but that is the dream that they are going to have to sell to someone.

We have a weak administration and an incompetent and corrupt A D.

Any coach in demand will have options, and given the circumstances, Oxford is way down the list of desirable jobs.

OP and pratt, read this again till it sinks in. 'Coaching search'.....'we gonna sell that dream!'

Good grief.

I think we can get a good one for 5 million what do you think.

Tell us wise one how you would go about hiring a top level coach? Or are you saying that they shouldn't even try. That would be a disservice to the fanbase. I know that actually trying to fix the problems at Ole Miss wouldn't fit your narrative but you sound dense to say they shouldn't try.

You don't even know what the problem is at Ole Miss. em's been trying to tell you but you won't listen.

Fire Bjork, give Matt Luke a new 4-year guaranteed deal, and get Archie to fundraise as much as possible to give Ole Miss the best possible facilities.

Then in 2023 when Ole Miss is off probation and the facilities have been upgraded, THEN you can go about trying to hiring a top level coach.

But to think that you are in any position to hire any coach better than Matt Luke right now just shows how out of touch you and most Ole Miss fans here really are.

I could see this. To me, it could be a situation like Matt Rhule at Baylor. Give him full control, guaranteed amount of $ and years to ride the ship and get the program turned around. That may be the only way you can get someone of value in the cfb coaching world.

See, this is a sound plan. There are 3-4 SEC programs in the toilet organizationally that would benefit from this approach. None seem to be listening, so the mediocrity and the annual race to the weed eater bowl will continue.

The issue facing OM is a young energetic coach on the rise wants to take a job that he has a reasonable chance of some quick success. I could be totally wrong but it looks like OM could be at a disadvantage the next few years. The best route to get a good coach would be to go to the other end and get a successful coach who is winding down his career. If you could sway Bob Stoops to come out of retirement and get you through the sanctions, or even a Les Miles to keep the program together, combined with the upgrades mentioned above when this ordeal is over OM could get that young up and comer to lead the program back.
