Read alot here, but don't post much. I think something is being missed about our game Saturday.
Everyone is talking about Miles Garrett vs Tunsil , as they should. I think Tunsil will get his as as will Garrett, but for the most part I think they will stalemate each other. The other matchup talked about is Daeshon Hall vs Fahn Cooper. I think this is the same as the Tunsil/Garrett battle as they will mostly stalemate. The one matchup no one seems to be discussing however is Daylon Mack vs Rod Taylor or Justin Bell at center. I don't think either of those guys can handle Mack when he moves to to the nose so they will have to double down on him. I think Rod Taylor could have covered him up, but with one good arm will need help.
Folks, this cat is Nkemdiche like quick and strong. This is where we will really miss Conyers at center who physically could handle him one on one. I hope we have an answer for him because otherwise I am afraid Chief will shoot that gap up the middle with a backer due to the double team. This is how I think they will try to hurry Chad Kelly and slow down our passing attack. We will need Evan Engram to slip in behind the backers and have a big game to keep them honest, as well as Walton getting to the outside on the toss. If we can do those two things consistently they won't be able to bring the rush through the gap outside the double team allowing us to block down with Tunsil, Patterson, and Cooper, while doubling up with Taylor and Bell. I imagine you will see us running to the left side quite bit to keep the ends honest while also pulling the guards to let Mack chase the back end of the play. However we will need to keep him covered up because you can hit the link to see what happens if you leave Daylon Mack alone.
