SIAP but I just finished up yesterdays pod. @Neal McCready and @Chase Parham discussed the overtime rules and how they couldn’t figure out why it ended. The overtime rules are nicknamed “green, white, checkered.” The rule is once the drivers get the white flag signaling the last lap the next flag ends the race. So in the first overtime caution came out before the white flag so they reset. On the second overtime the caution came on the second lap so it was the flag immediately after the white thus ending the race.
Interesting note, the broadcasters mentioned this was the first Daytona 500 that did not include a driver that raced against Dale Earnhardt. True turning of the page for NASCAR. Neat fact that caught my attention.
