In 2014 Gallup did a poll and asked people from each state (apparently) if it is a good place to live. Mississippi was #47 out of 50 on best places to live. And of all places, Montana and Alaska were the top two. After being in the military and traveling the world and to nearly every state, I can testify that Mississippi is not #47.
I live in DC and because of my career I may never move back, but I would love to. Besides, I want to be able to spend less than $400K and buy an actual house, not a townhome. They had to have asked people who never travel.
