... passed away today at the age of 83. I'm sure many of you knew Don from the QB Club meetings and just being around Ole Miss for decades. He was a manager on the 1958-1962 Ole Miss football teams and often cracked me up with his passion and debates about those years. When I first started covering Ole Miss for the DM, Don was incredibly helpful and nice to me, and I always remember and appreciate it. We affectionately called him Pens because he had 10-15 different color pens out while he kept a scorebook in the Swayze Field press box. Each color denoted a different thing on the scorebook. He was a friendly face when I needed it, and he has been kind to me in every interaction since then. Jeff Roberson passed the news to me this morning, and it's been on my mind a lot today. A genuinely kind and good person.
