I had to miss the game for the wife's birthday stuff. Going into today I expected us to continue to look really bad and I told myself I won't look at results because I didn't want it to put a damper on my night.
Just literally finished the game and learned the results at 2 a.m. EST. I get on here and see all these threads...
How in the hell can you not be proud of the response from the team? It wasn't a perfect game. A&M Defense is better than anyone will give credit for. They aren't great against the run but we did really well I thought. Not just in executing but scheme and play design in itself.
***Newsflash*** No team remaining on our schedule is great or really good against the run
The Defense played with attitude and an edge. They flew to the ball and didn't looked lost on 3rd down.
Adjustments, Adjustments, Adjustments!
Dropping Zed Woods down to LB in 3rd and long was great and very effective.
Fadol Brown looks at home on the inside. Nice boost on pass rushing downs instead of DJ Jones and Woody.
DeMarquis Gates is really coming into his own.
Offensively I thought the game was called pretty well. They seem to simplify some things in the run game. It worked. I like the Liggins package it worked at a very high success rate last season. They need to add another play or two out of it. The pass is coming from it most likely.
My apologies to Judd. He did a damn fine job down the stretch. As long as he isn't taking unnecessary steps and getting too happy footed before hitting the hole he is a solid back.
Tunsil certainly helps. Fahn Cooper will be a late round Draft Pick. He played really well. He's solid and versatile.
That bogus chop block penalty that led to the INT then the FG... smh I thought it was going to break our backs and we'd fold. proud of the team and normally fragile coach for keeping the intensity.
I LOVEEEE the aggressive play calling down the stretch instead of playing not to lose.... Chad Kelly just has to make better decisions in those moments. You don't have to go for the kill shot. body blows count too.
Still drunk from the concert I was at. Hotty Toddy!!! Go Rebs!
