Freeze gone

How the hell do you pay a kid $15,000 and not sign him?
We are not even very good at cheating.

You pay him some up front, and the rest after he signs.

But being in a bidding contest with state does make for tough negotiating.

OM will not have to buy out because show cause breaks contract. This will free up about 4 mil to spend on recruiting.
I can't imagine why. From what I've seen so far he has clean hands in all of this - other than cussing out the original investigator back in 2013. In fact, he was so blind to all that was happening, he urged any and everyone to send in evidence of cheating to the OM compliance department WHILE THE NCAA WAS ALREADY THERE (investigating women's basketball.) And isn't that a damn shame? Cheating in women's basketball? And THAT started the dominos falling?

Anyway......I've gotten off topic. Freeze will stay and will get OM through this road bump. Why fire him at this point? He's obviously a great coach, right?

Do great coaches go 5-7 and sign arguably the worst recruiting class in the conference? I don't think for a second that Freeze is so clueless or so incompetent that he didn't know exactly what was going on with his staff and his players - throughout that entire drama I kept thinking 'he doth protest too much'...

Freeze is an assclown. OM should have cut ties with him earlier to allow some damage control from the NCAA hammer. Now they are going to suffer.

I said when all this first came out that firing him would be their only chance... instead they doubled down on him, Freeze started talking shit and now they're gonna get crushed.

Miss State is pretty shrewd sounds like they pulled the same stunt on Ole Miss that they did on Auburn with Cam Newton. Only reason the SEC didn't block it this time is because Ole Miss was terrible, Auburn was in line for the NC game in 2010 and Slive had to protect that.

Best outcome for us (other than shooting down LOIC) is to accept the outcome of COI, keep Freeze and let the chips fall where they may! The rest of SEC is wanting him gone, which is the very reason we should hang on to the best coach we have had since John Howard Vaught. We may lose some of our prize recruits (Penn State didn't), however, most of those will be here two years and gone to NFL anyway. Ole Miss will take some lumps along the way, but Freeze can and will bring Ole Miss back quicker than starting over with new HC.

Freeze is coming off a 5-7 season WITHOUT sanctions and WITH a decent roster... what makes you think he's the man for the job moving forward?

5-7 was result of (a) major injuries on defense prior to and during season, (b) losing arguably the best QB in SEC to injury with three winnable games remaining, (c) DC retiring on job and DL coach quitting on job after the Arkansas loss. Most knowledgeable Reb fans felt, because of defeciences on defense, an 7-8 win season should be expected. Losing Kelly was paramount in finishing 5-7.

Slive didn't block squat. The NCAA investigated AU for a solid year and said Auburn was "the cleanest program in the country"...... or something like that.

Agreed. Freeze is a keeper and there's no need in placating to the NCAA at this point. Just take your licks and try to perfect your craft.

All Ole Miss needs to do is set up the "uncle" network like bama has. As long as a family member "gives gifts" to the player, the program is untouchable. Also, if/when the NCAA wants to question "the uncle", he can tell them to FO.

PS ... Now you know why bama has 7 #1 signing classes in a row.

There is an oxymoron, "knowledgeable reb fans". Sorry it was too easy.

Good one! Left myself wide open! Bad attempt at differentiating between those who are "well informed" vs those who have pollyannaish outlook on everything. We all have both types. BTW, GTH MSU.
