It’s time to play. We refer to our journeys in chapters and this is verse one of chapter four. It’s our first opportunity to show what our DNA will be for this team. There will never be a duplication of it. We’re excited to get it going, as I’m sure every team is at this point. It’s been a successful camp, and we are ready to play. Jason Simpson is a wonderful man. I have tremendous respect for him and what they do there. They were balanced last year and moved the ball effectively in SEC games. He has 7 returners on defense. Kicking game is intact. It’s a good test to open up at 11 at the Vaught. We are excited to kick it off.

Until you get out there, you don’t really know the DNA. I’m never quite sure how good we are going to be. I like what I’ve seen with attitude and how we’ve gone about our business. There are things I wish we’d paid more attention to. But you’re going to have that.

Great teams are accountable. That’s what you want to see. You have to make adjustments and make sure you do your job. Until you do that when it’s real it’s hard to say.

All three competed extremely well at QB last week. Two of three last week had their best week. Unless something changes this week I’m not ready… I know who will take the first snap, but I don’t know who the quarterback is going to be for the season. Chad will take the first snap with the ones today, and I think carrying on until Saturday he’ll do that. I think all three will play. I like all three. We have a chart I look at everyday that has every QB stat on it, and if you look at that he has a slight edge on the other two.

Very gratifying to see Treadwell back on field this week. I’m looking forward to seeing him get tackled. We need to throw it to him, let him take a hit and then he’ll get up and move on. That’ll make me smile that we’re back now.

I’m not stressing too much over QBs. All three could lead us to play well. Which one is going to emerge as the best, time will tell. I’m not stressed. I like all three. It’s a different feeling than the last few years.

Jeremy Liggins really showed his pass-catching ability well before he got hurt. He can have surprising year if he stays healthy. We’ve emerged there, behind Evan, to be adequate there.

We’re going to play two OLs on Saturday. Early in the game. It’ll be warm. We’ll rotate two lines and have 10 or 11 linemen ready to go.

In a good spot with health. Tony Conner is back, Jeremy Liggins is back. Rod Taylor is not going to play. He’s really close, but won’t play this week. Everybody else is ready to go.

Zedrick Woods will play. Lodge and Jefferson are ready and can, but as we get closer we have to make decisions on that. It won’t be easy. You don’t want to play a kid this week and he not play again because you stay healthy. That’s about it for true freshmen. Carlos Davis broke a finger last week and if he can function he’ll play. Cam Ordway is next corner should we need another one.

I am glad it’s going to grass. I’d like to be on that everyday. I don’t know that it’s safer. I feel like it is but I don’t have any data to back that up. I’m excited.

Today is first day Carlos will try to catch punts with that broken finger.

At some point you have to name a starting QB for a game, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t to start every game. But you want one QB to get in a rhythm and take it. We can have packages for other guys.

Saturday is first real test for the run game. It’s difficult to judge where you where since you go against each other for three weeks and our defensive is very talented. I’m cautiously optimistic. We haven’t had a ton of negative plays.

In mock game Saturday, Gary Wunderlich was 4-for-4 including one from 55 yards. Jordan Wilkins is 1B with Jaylen at RB. Akeem is doing well, too.
