Near the end of the football season Coach Freeze mentioned he wanted to beat cow college twice during the year. Once of course on the field (31-17) and the other on National Signing Day. Current Rivals ranking have cow college at #16 and Ole Miss at #18. We still have a couple of four and five stars out there we are probably going to sign so more than likely Freeze will get his clean sweep over the cow bell ringers.

Back in early March and April last year, my sister who lives in the Jackson area was all up in arms about how great the cow college current recruiting class was (ranked at the time in the top ten) and was highly concerned Freeze was falling behind Mullethead. I predicted then the Ole Miss class would finish better than cow college even though we could sing far less players. Looks like my prediction is coming true. Also, has anyone sen the rankings for next years class? WOW!! Next years class could be the best ever.

MSU recruiting in the top 25, whether the rankings are higher or lower than Ole miss, is good enough for me. We are possibly going to have two guys drafted in the top 2 rounds, one as a junior. McKinney was a 2 star, Preston smith was a 2 star. So whatever makes you feel good I guess. MSU has proven it can develop players and field competitive teams. If we could do what happened last year with consistently recruiting in the mid to high 30s, what can we do when have been getting more players with higher ceilings. No one wanted Dillon day.blain Clausell or Ben Beckwith and they turned out to be solid players for us. Ole miss seems to be doing well and recruiting well too but Mullen isn't going to change his philosophy to win a recruiting trophy. We aren't going away, so just get used to it. It used to be thought the state of MS couldn't sustain two competitive programs at the same time. Since Mullen and freezes recruiting approach are ao vastly different, now it appears we can.

Dcc30 - Back to normal

Keep drinking that koolaid. According to the majority of people who are supposed to know about these things, cow college will be back where they belong as a bottom feeder. Se url below

But then again, when you play high school teams as your four non conference games, you will more than likely get to six wins and mediocre bowl game. Dak is the only reason you will win the four. Without him you would be one of the worst teams in the country.

I get it, most predict us to take a big step back. If some of the Jucos coming in don't help, then maybe they are right but that's why you go out and get Jucos right? But even if we do take a step back in 2015, we aren't going back to the croom days either. So what happens in 2016 when Ole miss loses many key players to the draft? Will they not take a step back or is MSU the only program that it happens to? My point is that recruiting has improved by leaps and bounds, and we will not back in the cellar anytime soon.

DCC surely you cannot be that dumb. With four and five star recruits coming in they will replace the ones who leave after this coming season. And if Freeze keeps the ones he has committed for 2016, we will be a dominant team for years to come. You need to face it, the cow college season last year was a one time wonder. You beat Auburn and A&M before they are exposed.

Lil' man is back!!

Thank you for your continued obession with Ole Miss football. Which owns you again this recruiting season.

Pull down your skirt and run long now girlie man. Oh. Your post says "we're not going away". How 'bout YOU go away from the OM board lady? Jean, Jean the lyin' machine is missing you on the sheep board.

You are SO pathic! But you ARE good for laughs BWHAHAHAHAHAHA. Egg says hello and tell Mullet to "sleep well". It will be here a while....

So ole miss is going to replace their 4 and 5 stars with 4 and 5 stars and not miss a beat but we can't replace 2 stars with 3 and 4 stars and not expect to remain competitive? That makes sense!
MSU never recruited the 4 and 5 stars consistently, and probably won't. But the team you saw this year was built around guys who were developed up through the program. Over the past few years and even this class coming in for 2015, we have steadily gotten a little Better caliber players. We will continue to develop them up through our system and field competitive teams. It's not being dumb, it's the same recipe that got us here but now with better players. We didn't just beat LSU, A&M and auburn on a fluke. Two of those teams your team lost to. Arkansas saw embarrassed you. We did lose the egg bowl so you can hang your hats on that, but we fielded a good team that almost went the distance but fell just short, with a majority of players that ole miss didn't want and we were laughed at for recruiting. Ole miss is doing well in recruiting, we can see that, but we are improving there too. We don't have to get the 5 stars, we can develop kids into 5 stars. If you can't see that, you are blind.

I think Mullen is an excellent coach. I think he's a piece of crap as a person though. That said, if I had to bet on next year's Egg Bowl I'd have to bet on State. Many people forget how important Senior Day is and how much that inspires the players to play well that day. The majority of the time the most inspired team will win. Ole Miss had to replace two first team All American in the defensive backfield. We also have to replace an experienced MLB. We have replacements but no one really knows if they can play as well as the ones they are replacing. And, there's a difference in playing well and play All American well. On offense we have to replace the most important cog in the offense, the QB. I think Kelly will be the replacement but school is out on how good he will be. He could be better or worse. And, of course, the most important unknown of all is injuries. Who will go down and how will their replacements play? Neither team can afford to lose key players to injuries. Ole Miss lost some key players during the LSU game and injuries piled up after that. Four of our starting O linemen had to have surgery after the season ended. Injuries had a major impact on our season after the LSU game. We had two injuries the same day in fall practice that affected us all year, the loses of Tee Sheppard and Carlos Davis. Tee was our best CB and Davis was a dynamic punt returner and backup CB. With Sheppard at CB our defense would have been nearly impossible to pass on. It seems where ever you're thin is where the injuries will occur. So, who knows what will happen this next year? Too many variables to predict.

As much as I can't stand State, I have to agree with you, Ranch. It is way too early to start making predictions for next year, and in the Egg Bowl, we all know the home team always has an advantage. I certainly hope I am wrong and would LOVE to keep the Egg Bowl Trophy where it belongs...at The University of Mississippi!
